LOOGOOTEE Oram Ray Steward, 92, Loogootee, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Jasper Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center.
Born in Martin County, he was the son of Wesley [W11:LW] and Bertha (Scott) [W87:LW] Steward.
He had worked at the brickyard, stone quarries, Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane, farming and carpentry. He was a member of Mount Union Church of Christ.
Surviving are one son, Forrest Denver "Denny" Steward [W10:LW] of Loogootee; three grandsons, one granddaughter and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Olive Steward [W13:LW]; one daughter, Thelma Wolf [W65:LW]; his parents; two sisters: Gladys Steward [W89:LW] and Fetina Sheetz [W88:LW]; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Queen-Lee Funeral Home, Shoals. Burial will be in Mount Union Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
